This musical docudrama charts the developments in Indian music from 1850 - 1950, the last century of the colonial era, which has had definite influence in shaping the future of music in India. The film particularly sheds light on historically important developments: migration of various gharanas from their places of origin in north India to Maharashtra, contribution of stalwarts like V. D.
