Danyel Waro at The Blue Frog

Danyel Waro is a very special musician, singer and poet, and is considered a hero in the Reunion Islands where he hails from. He is a protagonist of the Maloya Revival (Maloya is a musical style with African, Madagascan and Indian origins, the blues of La Reunion), which was banned for a long period, and which was later adopted in the 70s by their movement for independence. He has received the Womex Artist Award in Copenhagen in 2010, a very respected award given by World Music professionals. Entry is free
